Messi set to make 300th Camp Nou appearance

Barcelona will take on Getafe in La Liga on Sunday and if Lionel Messi features in Ernesto Valverde's side, the Argentine will reach an important landmark during the game.

It isn't often that a player reaches 300 home appearances for one club. However, Messi will join that illustrious group when he steps out onto the Camp Nou pitch in Sunday's La Liga game against Getafe.

Within the 299 appearances made so far in Barcelona's famous stadium, in which he started in 266 of them, the Argentina international has helped to secure 246 victories for the Catalan club whilst scoring 309 goals - a phenomenal record.

In addition, he was instrumental in 'Los Cules' 48-game unbeaten streak during his spell at the club which further cements his status as one of best footballers in history.

The appearances have been well spread out among the different competitions too: 200 in La Liga, 56 in the Champions League, 34 in the Copa del Rey and nine in the Spanish Super Cup, with that tally set to rise further on Sunday.

Barcelona will be hoping Messi's 82.2 per cent winning streak at the Camp Nou continues against Getafe as they look to solidify their lead at the top of Spain's national league. The 30-year-old could find himself with a new strike partner too with Ousmane Dembele included in the full squad as he makes his comeback from injury.
