Cristiano Ronaldo has not been included in Real Madrid's 19-man squad for their La Liga fixture with Espanyol on Tuesday night.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane has announced his 19-man squad for the trip to the RCDE Stadium and star forward Cristiano Ronaldo is a surprise absentee.

Marcelo, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos aren't included either as they continue to recover from injuries, with the return leg against Paris Saint-Germain fast approaching. However, it it unclear at the moment as to why Ronaldo has been omitted from the squad.

One reason could be to rest the Portgual international ahead of the important Champions League fixture, especially with Madrid facing another La Liga game, this time at home to Getafe, before making the trip to Paris.

Nonetheless, the Spanish giants are blessed to have a squad full of depth and also welcome back captain Sergio Ramos after he was suspended for the 4-0 victory over Alaves at the weekend.

Here is the 19-man squad to face Espanyol:

Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas, Kika Casilla, Luca Zidane.

Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Nacho, Theo Hernandez and Achraf Hakimi.

Midfielders: Casemiro, Marcos Llorente, Marco Asensio, Isco, Mateo Kovacic and Dani Ceballos.

Forwards: Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral.
